Foundation inspection
A visual and measured assessment: elevation readings across the floor, crack mapping, door and window operation, grading and drainage around the perimeter. Most repair companies offer this free because it's a sales call. A structural engineer's inspection is paid — typically a few hundred dollars — and produces an independent report that says what's wrong and what repair is warranted, without selling you the repair. On any job quoted above roughly $8,000, that report is the cheapest insurance you can buy.
