Privacy Policy
Effective July 29, 2026. Plain-language version first, full detail below — this is the policy that governs what happens to the information you give us.
Homeowner Henry ("Homeowner Henry," "we," "us," or "our") operates homeownerhenry.com and the contractor matching service offered through it (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices and rights you have. This page is maintained by Homeowner Henry and describes our own practices; it is not a certification, audit, or third-party verification.
1.Who we are and what this policy covers
The Service is a free lead-matching service for homeowners. We are not a contractor, home improvement company, broker, insurer, or lender. We do not perform, supervise, guarantee, warrant, price, or inspect any home improvement work. This policy covers information we collect through our website, forms, email, phone calls with our team, and any related pages we operate. It does not cover the independent privacy practices of the contractors, service partners, or third-party sites you interact with after we make an introduction; those parties have their own policies and are independent data controllers of the information they receive.
2.Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact information: first and last name, email address, telephone number, and property street address, city, and ZIP code.
- Project information: service category, project description, scope, approximate size, budget range, ownership status, and desired timeline.
- Communications: messages you send through our contact forms, email, reviews or feedback about a contractor, and notes from calls with our team. Calls to or from our team may be monitored or recorded for quality and training where permitted by law and, where required, with notice and consent.
- Contractor applicant information: if you apply to join the network, business name, license and insurance numbers, service area, references, and related business details.
Information collected automatically
- Device and usage data: IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system, referring and exit pages, pages viewed, timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP address.
- Cookies and similar technologies: first-party and third-party cookies, pixels, local storage, and SDKs used for site functionality, fraud prevention, analytics, and advertising measurement. See Section 8.
- Consent and submission records: the date, time, IP address, page URL, and exact disclosure text displayed when you submitted a form. We retain these records to evidence your consent as required by telemarketing and consumer protection rules.
Information from other sources
We may receive information from participating contractors and service partners (including job status, whether they reached you, and complaint outcomes), from marketing partners and comparison sites that refer you to us with your consent, and from public or licensed data sources used to validate addresses, phone numbers, license status, and to detect fraud or duplicate submissions.
Sensitive information and children
We do not seek, and ask that you do not submit, government identification numbers, financial account or payment card numbers, health information, precise geolocation, biometric data, or other sensitive categories of personal information. The Service is intended for adults 18 or older and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If we learn we have collected such information, we will delete it. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us data.
3.How we use your information
- To operate the Service and match your request with participating contractors.
- To contact you about your request, confirm details, verify your information, and follow up on how a job went.
- To respond to inquiries, complaints, no-show reports, and support requests.
- To vet, monitor, and audit contractors, including investigating complaints and removing pros from the network.
- To send you service messages and, where permitted, marketing communications about related home services. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- To measure, analyze, and improve the Service, our forms, and our marketing, including conversion and advertising measurement.
- To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, spam, security incidents, and unlawful activity.
- To comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our Terms of Service, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
Legal bases (EEA/UK, where applicable). We process personal data to perform a contract or take pre-contractual steps at your request; based on your consent (which you may withdraw at any time); for our legitimate interests in operating, securing, and improving the Service; and to comply with legal obligations.
4.How we share your information
- Participating contractors and their service partners. When you submit a request, we share your contact and project information with a limited number of contractors (typically up to three or four) matched to your project and area, and with the marketing or scheduling partners they authorize to contact you on their behalf. Once shared, that information is controlled by those businesses under their own privacy policies, and asking us to delete your data does not automatically delete it from their systems.
- Service providers. Hosting, form processing, email and SMS delivery, call routing and recording, analytics, customer support, and fraud prevention vendors acting on our instructions under contract.
- Advertising and measurement partners. Cookie and pixel data used to measure campaigns and, where you have not opted out, to serve interest-based ads.
- Legal and safety. To comply with applicable law, subpoenas, court orders, or lawful government requests; to enforce agreements; and to protect the rights, property, or safety of homeowners, contractors, the public, or us.
- Business transfers. In connection with a merger, financing, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of assets, or during due diligence for such a transaction, subject to this policy or a successor policy.
- With your direction or consent. Any other sharing you ask for or agree to.
We do not sell your personal information for money. However, sharing lead information with contractors and marketing partners in exchange for consideration, and sharing cookie data with advertising partners, may be treated as a "sale" or as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA/CPRA and similar state laws. You may opt out as described in Section 6.
5.Your consent to be contacted (TCPA / telemarketing)
By submitting a request through the Service, you expressly authorize Homeowner Henry, the matched contractors, and their authorized service partners to contact you at the telephone number and email address you provide — including by automatic telephone dialing system, artificial or prerecorded voice, AI-assisted voice, and SMS or MMS text message — about your project and related home services. Consent is not a condition of purchase of any goods or services. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies. Your consent applies even if the number you provide is listed on a federal, state, or corporate Do Not Call registry, and it remains valid until you revoke it.
How to revoke consent. Reply STOP to any text message, follow the unsubscribe link in any email, tell any caller to place you on their internal do-not-call list, or email us at the address in Section 13 with the phone number and email you used. We will honor revocation requests promptly and, in any event, within the timeframes required by law. Because matched contractors receive your details directly, you may need to revoke consent with them separately; we will also pass along your request when you ask us to. Reply HELP to any text for assistance. We maintain an internal do-not-call list and honor the National Do Not Call Registry as required by law.
6.Your privacy rights and choices
Everyone
- Unsubscribe from marketing email using the link in any message.
- Reply STOP to text messages to stop texts from that sender.
- Ask us to stop sharing your information with additional contractors by emailing us.
- Set your browser or device to block or delete cookies (some features may break).
U.S. state privacy rights
Depending on your state of residence — including California (CCPA/CPRA), Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, Delaware, Iowa, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Minnesota, Maryland, and others as their laws take effect — you may have the right to:
- Know or access the personal information we have collected about you.
- Receive a portable copy of that information.
- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising.
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information (we do not use it for inference).
- Opt out of profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
- Not be discriminated against or retaliated against for exercising these rights.
- Appeal a denial of a request (we will respond to appeals as required by law).
How to submit a request. Email privacy@homeownerhenry.com with the subject line "Privacy Request" and tell us which right you are exercising and the email address, phone number, and ZIP code you used. We will verify your identity by matching the information against our records and may ask for additional confirmation. An authorized agent may submit a request with written permission that we can verify. We respond within 45 days and may extend once by an additional 45 days with notice. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar browser opt-out preference signals as an opt-out of sale/sharing for that browser.
California "Shine the Light." California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes once per year by emailing the address above.
EEA, UK, and Swiss residents
The Service is intended for use in the United States. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests or direct marketing, and you may withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing. You may lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. Any transfer of personal data to the United States is made using appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, where required.
7.Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy. In general, we retain project requests and contact details for up to five years after your last interaction, and consent and disclosure records for at least five years after consent is revoked, to comply with telemarketing recordkeeping expectations and to defend legal claims. We retain shorter-lived analytics and log data for up to twenty-six months. We may retain information longer where required by law, or in aggregated or de-identified form that can no longer reasonably identify you.
8.Cookies, analytics, and advertising
We use strictly necessary cookies to operate the site and remember your form progress, and analytics and advertising cookies or pixels to understand traffic, measure campaign performance, and prevent fraud. Where required by law, we request consent before setting non-essential cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings, through opt-out tools such as the DAA (optout.aboutads.info) and NAI (optout.networkadvertising.org) pages, and through your device's ad-tracking settings. Because opt-out preferences are stored in cookies or device settings, you may need to repeat the process on each browser and device.
9.Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encryption of data in transit using TLS, access controls limited to personnel who need the data, and vendor agreements requiring confidentiality. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send sensitive information such as Social Security numbers or payment card details through our forms or email. If you believe your interaction with us is no longer secure, or if you want to report a vulnerability, email security@homeownerhenry.com. Where a security incident affects your personal information, we will notify you and regulators as required by applicable breach notification laws.
10.Third-party links and services
The Service contains links to contractor websites, review platforms, and other third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, security, or privacy practices. Review their policies before providing information.
11.Accessibility
We aim to keep this site usable for everyone and work toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. If you encounter a barrier or need this policy in an alternative format, email help@homeownerhenry.com and we will provide the information in an accessible form.
12.Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the effective date at the top and, for material changes, provide additional notice such as a banner on the site or an email where required. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
