A one-story home typically runs $3,800 to $7,800 with washing, scraping, caulking, spot priming and two coats. Two-story wood siding runs $7,500 to $15,000, with the spread driven almost entirely by how much wood repair the house needs.
Price separately: shutters, gutters and downspouts, porch ceilings and railings, garage and front doors, and detached garages. Those items are the most common reason two Indianapolis bids differ by thousands.
The season is shorter than people think
Most quality coatings need surface and air temperatures above 50 degrees, and — the part homeowners miss — they need it to stay above that through the overnight cure. A 62-degree October afternoon followed by a 38-degree night can leave a chalky, poorly bonded film.
May through October is the reliable window, with low-temp products stretching the shoulders slightly. Book spring work by February; good Marion County crews fill May and June before winter is over.
Older homes and lead-safe work
