There is no painting license in Texas — here is what to check instead
Neither the state nor the City of San Antonio licenses painters. So insist on the three things that actually protect you: a certificate of insurance emailed by the agent showing general liability and workers' compensation, a business registration matching the name on the contract, and a physical local address.
Ask whether the crew is employed or subcontracted, and whose workers' compensation covers whoever climbs the ladder. Texas does not require private employers to carry comp, which is why you should require it.
Cracks, chalk and heat: the prep that decides the outcome
